Mostar, Elektroprijenos BiH, staff of the University of Mostar, the City of Ljubuški, undergraduate students of architecture and geodesy, undergraduate and graduate students of civil engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy of the University of Mostar, and secondary school students.

As part of the meeting, a lecture entitled “Nature-Based Urban Stormwater and Surface Water Drainage” was delivered by representatives of the company Starum d.o.o. from Pula: Tatjana Uzelac, master of Civil Engineering, and Ariana Modesto, M.Arch. All participants were welcomed at the beginning by Assistant Professor Mirna Raič, PhD, Vice-Dean for Research at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy, University of Mostar. During the lecture, examples of the application of the Sponge City concept at several locations in Pula were presented, as well as planned interventions in several Croatian cities.

Following the lecture, the SpongeCity project manager, Tatjana Džeba, MSc, presented the project, emphasizing that a Local Action Plan and a Feasibility Study based on the application of the SpongeCity concept are being developed for the pilot area of the City of Mostar. A discussion was held on possible activities for urban areas of both the City of Mostar and other cities, as well as on activities that citizens themselves can undertake on their own properties in order to reduce urban flooding caused by stormwater.

Refreshments and a reception after the meeting were organized in the hall in front of the Council Hall.

We would like to thank everyone who attended this SpongeCity project stakeholder meeting.
