Pursuant to Article 91 of the Statute of the Faculty of Civil Engineering University of Mostar, at its 31st session held on 20 September 2000, the Faculty Council adopts:
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR STUDENTS OF THE FACULTY OF CIVIL ENGINEERING UNIVERSITY OF MOSTAR
Students, teachers, associates and other faculty staff members should constantly work in synergy on creating optimal conditions and environment for implementation of academic work.
The code is primarily based on the wish of all faculty employees and students to eliminate unacceptable behaviour in the academic community.
Each student and each employee of the Faculty of Civil Engineering should be familiar with this code.
STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO:
protect the reputation and dignity of the University of Mostar, Faculty of Civil Engineering, faculty students, teachers and associates;
attend lectures, exercises, seminars and other forms of instruction;
attend meetings of the Faculty Council and other committees they are members of;
treat teachers, associates, other faculty employees and students politely and fairly;
observe the code of conduct in laboratories and information premises of the faculty;
protect the property and environment of the faculty.
STUDENTS' RIGHTS ARE:
all students have equal and inalienable rights regardless of race, ethnic background, religion, gender, political and other convictions and views, social status and all other differences;
students have the right to freedom of expression in accordance with legal decisions and academic citizens' moral principles;
students have the right to freedom of non-political association;
students have the right to an official advisor (teacher) through the student advisory service;
students have the right to democratically elected representatives eligible to vote in the Faculty Council;
students are guaranteed the availability of the faculty statute and other documents related to them and their rights at the faculty;
students have the right to be treated fairly by the faculty staff; and in this respect the right to appeal in case of violation of this right;
to attend lectures, exercises, seminars and other forms of instruction;
to participate in the teaching process (as student tutors, etc.);
to participate in research and professional work;
through representatives of the Student Union, to give opinions on matters concerning students' rights and obligations;
through the Student Advisory Service to request an advisor from among teachers or associates to assist him/her with advice in the study, especially in selecting courses;
to file an appeal to the competent authority of the faculty against a decision or procedure with which he/she is dissatisfied;
to be rewarded for his/her work, achievements and contribution to the reputation of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the University of Mostar;
to participate in supplementary activities: cultural, sports, professional conferences and seminars, inter-university and interstate student conventions etc.
GENERALLY UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR INCLUDES:
being late, failure to appear or leaving any form of instruction and failure to meet other teaching obligations;
disturbing any form of instruction;
unjustified absence from meetings of the Faculty Council and other committees he/she is a member of;
use of aids on exams (books, notebooks, different electronic devices, different notes), except when explicitly permitted.
PARTICULARLY UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR INCLUDES:
improperly and unfairly treating teachers and other faculty employees and students;
receiving and giving help on exams and other tests;
presenting someone else's work as one's own;
misrepresentation, attending tests in the name of another person;
forging study-related documents and gaining student rights;
violating the rules of copyright and intellectual property rights;
unauthorized access to computer system resources of the faculty, of the university and of other entities connected to the faculty through the Internet;
developing or using programs designed to destroy or disable computer, software, data or information resources of the faculty or of other entities connected to the faculty and the University of Mostar as well as someone else's resources through the faculty and university computer network;
causing material damage to the property of the faculty;
stealing property owned by the faculty or the university;
actions deliberately or by gross negligence causing pollution to the environment of the faculty and the university campus;
causing disorder and fight or participating in disorder or fight at the faculty premises;
coming to any form of instruction under the influence of alcohol or narcotic drugs;
and all other acts which are contrary to the ethical norms accepted in the society and acts defined by law as criminal acts.
PENAL PROVISIONS IN CASE UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR:
In case of violation of the code of conduct, disciplinary action shall be taken against the student.
The action and measures are taken by the Faculty Council.
The Faculty Council appoints a 3-member commission to conduct disciplinary proceedings and establish penal measures.
The minimum measure can be a public reprimand and the maximum one permanent expulsion from the faculty or the university.
The student has the right to appeal against the imposed measure within eight days of receiving the decision on the pronounced measure.
The Faculty Council considers the appeal and renders a final decision on the penal measure, which cannot be appealed against.
This code shall enter into force on the day of its adoption by the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Civil Engineering.
