In October and November 2020, employees of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Mostar, performed load testing on a total of ten viaducts, including the left and right viaduct, which are an integral part of the motorway on Corridor Vc, and are located on the Zenica Bypass, Zenica South - Zenica North. On the section Klopče - Donja Gračanica, the following viaducts were tested: Klopče, Klopačke Stijene, Anex Babina Rijeka, Babina Rijeka, Pehare and Ričice.
Vijadukt BABINA RIJEKA
We will focus on the testing of the Babina Rijeka viaduct, currently the highest viaduct constructed in Bosnia and Herzegovina with a maximum height of 120 meters. The viaduct consists of two parallel structures, each measuring 385 meters in length. The structures have three spans each, supported by two end piers and two middle piers. Both structures were constructed by the free cantilever construction method with the middle span of 165 meters. The superstructure is with box cross section of variable height, made of prestressed concrete. The central piers are approximately 60 and 80 meters high. The foundations of the structures are on reinforced concrete wells 18 meters deep and 12 meters in diameter. Ten trucks weighing about 400 kN were used as the test load. They were positioned in different load schemes in order to obtain the maximum impact on the bridge structure.
The participants in the conducted tests from the Faculty of Civil Engineering University of Mostar were:
Mladen Glibić, Ph.D. - testing supervisor;
Mladen Kustura, Ph.D.;
Marino Jurišić, M.Sc. and
Željko Mikulić, M.S.C.E.
This section is planned to be opened on 25 November 2020.
