Study visit of Architecture and Urban Planning students to Zagreb 2018

Students of the Study of Architecture and Urban Planning of the Faculty of Civil Engineering University of Mostar attended a block of classes of the course Architectural Design I at the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb. The classes were organized by Prof. Vanja Rister in the period from 1 to 4 November 2018.

Teaching was organized by a three-day schedule. On the first day, Prof. Saša Justić, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, addressed a welcome speech to the students, after which the students had regular classes through exercises and lectures. A visit to the Museum of Contemporary Art and a guided tour of the permanent display were planned for the afternoon hours. The students visited and viewed the exhibits and the building in a relaxed atmosphere after the working day.

On the second day, the working rhythm in the faculty building was continued, divided by a short break. Assistant lecturers Iva Martinis and Pero Ćeskić helped with the work on exercises and counselling with Professor Rister. Prof. Petar Mišković gave a special lecture to the students and presented the works and models of students of previous generations.
On the third day, the topical lecture "Architect Drago Ibler" was given by the professor of the Faculty of Architecture University of Zagreb, Andrej Uchytil, Ph.D. The lecture provides an insight into the Croatian architecture of the 20th century with a special reference to the works of Drago Ibler, who also worked in Mostar. It was followed by a professional tour of the city, divided into two groups. They visited the works of the architects Viktor Kovačić, Vladimir Turina, Stjepan Planić and others, about which the professional tour guides spoke in detail.

The study visit to Zagreb was organized at the initiative of the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture University of Zagreb, Krunoslav Šmit, Ph.D., and Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering University of Mostar, Maja Prskalo, Ph.D.
A total of 25 students participated in the study visit. In addition to good experience, the journey motivated the students for further work.
