On September 2, 2026, as part of the activities implemented within the ClimBeach project, members of the project team from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy at the University of Mostar, Prof. Maja Prskalo, PhD, Tatjana Džeba, MSc, and Assistant Professor Dr. Anton Vrdoljak, met again in Neum after a two-month period. They were joined by representatives of Hydromarine d.o.o. from Split, Croatia, led by the company’s director, Marin Milin.
As part of the field activities, an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) measuring instrument was installed. The device is designed to measure key marine parameters in moderately deep waters, with particular emphasis on wind-generated waves and sea currents induced by tidal oscillations.
The data collected through these field measurements will provide essential input for subsequent numerical modelling using specialized software tools. The primary objective of these analyses is to enhance the resilience of coastal areas to the impacts of climate change and to support the development of guidelines for the sustainable stabilization and management of beaches.
This activity represents an important step towards improving the understanding of coastal processes and their long-term evolution under changing environmental conditions. Reliable field measurements of this kind provide an essential scientific basis for informed planning and for the development of effective climate change adaptation strategies in coastal areas.
The results obtained will contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of coastal dynamics and support the development of scientifically based approaches to sustainable coastal management within the framework of the ClimBeach project.
