Scientific hour held: Effect of Multiple Earthquakes on the Response of Reinforced Concrete Structures

A scientific hour on the topic Effect of Multiple Earthquakes on the Response of Reinforced Concrete Structures was held in the conference hall of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy, University of Mostar, on Thursday, 24 September 2026. The lecture was given by Professor Emeritus Amr S. Elnashai from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (USA). The scientific hour was organized in cooperation with the Croatian Center for Earthquake Engineering.

Professor Emeritus Amr S. Elnashai, a leading expert in the field of earthquake engineering, shared part of his extensive knowledge and experience through his lecture. Among other things, he provided insights into research findings that clearly indicate that the behavior of structural systems susceptible to degradation is significantly affected by sequences of strong earthquake shocks, in ways that cannot be predicted through simple analyses.

We would like to thank Professor Elnashai for his visit and look forward to continuing our cooperation.
