within the APLE Fest Banja Luka

Promotion of the Interreg Danube Region Project SPONGECITY within the APLE Fest Banja Luka, held on 20 February 2026 at 12:00 during the Open Talk session on the main stage in the hall of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy University of Banja Luka (AGGFBL).

The SpongeCity Project Manager for SUM (PP7), M.Sc. Tatjana Džeba, began the promotion of the activities carried out over the past two years of the SpongeCity project implementation during the fifth reporting period at APLE Fest Banja Luka (February 18–20, 2026), on the main stage as part of the Open Talk session, with a two-part presentation:

• The SpongeCity Project Manager M.Sc. Tatjana Džeba presented and explained the project concept, the involved partners and associated partners, stakeholders, progress of activities, development and practical application of the tool (SpongeCity Toolbox) developed within the project, demonstration activities related to rain gardens in EU partner countries, education of citizens and staff of associated municipalities, with special emphasis on the proposed Local Action Plan for the City of Mostar based on the “sponge city” concept.

• This was followed by a presentation of best practices from the Republic of Croatia, delivered by Tatjana Uzelac, MCE, from the company Starum d.o.o. Pula, recipient of the Kolos Award (an award for outstanding professional achievements granted by the Croatian Chamber of Civil Engineers), the first woman in the Hydrotechnics category in 2020 for stormwater and surface water drainage and flood protection of the City of Pula, which was among the first in Croatia to adopt the “sponge city” concept.

On this occasion, we would like to thank our kind hosts from the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy University of Banja Luka, the organizers of the Erasmus+ APLE Festival for the opportunity to promote and educate interested participants about the Interreg Danube Region project SpongeCity.
